What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System, or CMS for short, is software that runs on a web server that enables you to seamlessly create, edit, review and publish text and photos, plus embed audio and video on your website. Most modern Content Management Systems use a simple Word style toolbar for text editing, and feature drag and drop photo uploading and some degree of image resizing.
My favourite Content Management Systems, and why I like them:
ExpressionEngine Content Management System - ExpressionEngine is a commercial product from EllisLabs. ExpressionEngine offers unsurpassed security, and is a great tool to use for those that need a simple user experience, or for websites that are complex and require large amounts of data, configured to how you prefer to work with it. ExpressionEngine adjusts to the needs of the user, rather than forcing the user to compromise in order to get things done.
WordPress - Wordpress is an open source platform (meaning free) and its core is built around themes. Do you have a website you would like to get running quickly and have a theme that you like? Combine the two and your website can be up in running in no time. Wordpress themes can range in price from free, to several hundred dollars. For a website that is not too complex, we can get you up and running, very economically.
